Second City Track Club

At the 2016 Shamrock Shuffle; Olympians Desi Linden, Alexi Pappas and our Kristen Heckert ran stride for stride together for 3 miles. After Pappas and Kristen broke away and in an exciting finish, Alexi outkicked Kris for the win. In a classy move, Pappas congratulated Kris then asked where she was going for training after (meaning warm weather/altitude/etc..). Kris' answer defines who we are and the city we rep: 'I live and train in Chicago, I'm a high school teacher.'

We started the NBChicago racing team in 2013 with the idea of having a bunch of really great people chase their running dreams in a group environment. I could not be more proud of what these athletes have accomplished.

As we move into 2023, we will continue to do everything in our power to be the best we can be while representing our city, our sponsors and the team our athletes make up; Second City Track Club.

Chicago burned in 1871 and it provided the residents an opportunity to build a new and better constructed city. To Chicagoans, the Great Fire meant a second chance. Thus, Chicago today, IS the Second City. For many of our athletes, this team IS their second chance of fulfilling their own running dreams. They are professionals where running is the outlet from the stress of life. We are an old school, hard working team who represents a hard working, blue collar city; and we wouldn't have it any other way. So proud of what our athletes have done and incredibly excited for what the future will bring.
